What are Effective Strategies for Managing Terminal Illness Symptoms at Home?

We manage terminal illness symptoms through a multidisciplinary approach that emphasizes body and soul, ensuring your loved one remains comfortable in the familiar setting of home. Our strategies are built upon individualized, culturally sensitive care plans that address physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Key strategies for managing symptoms include:

  • Expert Pain Management: Our interdisciplinary team of nurses and physicians develops tailored plans for both daily management and pain crises. We provide 24/7 on-call nursing support to manage breakthrough pain or sudden changes in condition.
  • Comprehensive Physical Support: We address a wide range of symptoms beyond pain, including fatigue, nausea, sleep disturbances, and shortness of breath, through professional Nursing Care and assistance with Activities of Daily Living.
  • Non-Drug Comfort Measures: As part of The Amara Difference, we integrate Alternative Therapies to ease anxiety and physical tension, such as Massage Therapy, Music Therapy, and calming recreational activities.
  • Holistic and Psycho-Social Services: Our team includes social workers, chaplains, and volunteers who provide emotional support and Volunteer Services for companionship, helping patients find presence and calm.
  • Caregiver Support and Respite: We offer Bereavement Services and respite care to give family members the opportunity to rest while we tend to your loved one’s grooming and daily needs.

Our mission is to promote a state of Amara of mind by providing mercy and kindness during life’s most difficult times. Please note that eligibility for hospice must be determined by a physician, and care is individualized for each patient.
